Robert Lindblom Math and Science Academy is one of nine selective enrollment high schools in the Chicago Public Schools system, District 299. Lindblom is located in West Englewood on Chicago’s South Side and draws the best students from all areas of the city. Our student body is approximately 97% minority and approximately 80% low-income.
Lindblom Math & Science Academy is the first CPS high school to implement the balanced calendar, an alternative to the traditional September-June school year. It provides for more continuous learning, with the same amount of instructional days as other schools. In addition, most courses are offered on a block schedule, which allows for greater depth of study while simulating the seminar courses at the university level.
Lindblom offers a demanding college preparatory curriculum where all core courses are honors and Advanced Placement. We offer students opportunities beyond the traditional curriculum and therefore expect much of students in all subject areas.
Biotechnology Center for Excellence
As a math and science academy, our charge is to create the best math and science school in the country. To this end, Baxter International Inc. has partnered with Lindblom to build the Biotechnology Center for Excellence. This initiative builds upon our already established Biotechnology program by connecting students’ classroom studies to real world experiences and training other Chicago Public Schools teachers to implement Biotechnology programs in their schools.
In 2005, Lindblom reopened under new leadership that was given the rare opportunity to hire a faculty to rebuild Lindblom. Thus, Lindblom has amazing teachers who are experts in their subject areas; know how to engage students in their learning, and truly like adolescents. On the last student survey, our teachers were listed as the most supportive of any selective enrollment high school.
